An SUV crashed into an apartment complex, critically injuring five people. The accident happened around 3 a.m. on Sunday in the 2300 block of South 116 East Avenue.

Officers with the Tulsa Police Department say the driver of the SUV was eastbound on 23rd when she lost control of the vehicle and crashed into an apartment at the Village East apartment complex. The apartment was vacant.

"I'd seen her graze between the tree and the apartments, so I sped up because I didn't know if she was going to hit me or not. From there it just slid all across the apartments into a big old bang," said Reneisha Richardson.

EMSA took the 5 people inside the SUV to the hospital. They have serious injuries. No one living in the apartment building was injured and no one was evacuated.

A neighbor says there is a crack in her living room wall and her porch light was broken due to the impact. The Tulsa Fire Department secured the building.

Police are investigating what happened, but say alcohol may have been involved.
