In a statement released to The News On 6, city spokesman John Durkee said a crew with the independent film production company, Lazy Eye Productions, had placed a light too close to a sprinkler sensor on the vacant 14th floor.
One sprinkler activated and was shut off a few minutes later by building maintenance workers, said Durkee.
Durkee reports that carpet and unoccupied cubical work space on the 14th floor, under the sprinkler head, were damaged by the water. Durkee said some water also seeped through to the 13th floor occupied by Level 3 Communications.
A damage assessment is underway. The film crew was working on a feature film called "Tech Support." According to Durkee, Lazy Eye Productions has liability insurance.
Durkee said evacuation procedures were followed throughout the building. Elevators were recalled to the lowest floors so employees used the stairs to evacuate the building. There were no reports of injuries.
