Although their numbers are dwindling in the wild, the African Penguins at the Tulsa Zoo are having a baby-boom.
"It's actually been five years since we've had any chicks hatch here at the zoo, but we had Freedman hatch in January, Marlie hatched the middle of March, and Journey, who we recently put on exhibit, he hatched in the middle of April," explains penguin keeper Seana Flossic.
Flossic says temperate species penguins such as the African penguins are in more of a decline in numbers because of their proximity to populated areas.
