A large Coweta family has a new place to call home.  And, it's all thanks to the kindness of strangers.

The Erwin family got to see their new home, in the 400 block of North Bixby, for the first time on Wednesday.

The 10 member, extended family has owned the property for generations.  Over time, their home fell into disrepair and was condemned.  The First United Methodist Church stepped in and coordinated the extreme makeover.

But, it wasn't easy and it didn't happen in a weekend.

"There were times really almost as disbelief, as if it would really ever happen. I suspect that they have had people make promises in the past that haven't delivered. So, it's really excited to make good on some hope and vision we have a year ago," said Rev. Allen Carson with the First United Methodist Church.

A grant from the Indian Nation Council paid for half the costs.  The rest came from local builders and other community members who donated time and supplies.
