MEXICO CITY (AP) - Forecasters say Hurricane Elida has weakened to a Category 1 storm off Mexico.
Meanwhile Tropical Storm Fausto is continuing to gain strength. Both storms are well off Mexico's Pacific coast and neither is expected to threaten land.
The U.S. National Hurricane Center says Elida has maximum sustained winds of 80 mph (130 kph). That's down from 100 mph (160 kph). The storm is forecast to weaken further as it moves over cooler water.
The hurricane was located about 955 miles (1,535 kilometers) west-southwest of the southern tip of the Baja California peninsula.
