An old friend is coming back to Tulsa. Remember Casa Bonita, the Mexican restaurant at 21st and Sheridan? It's back, although the restaurant is not open yet, The News On 6's Rick Wells reports lots of people are working very hard to get it open very soon.
Off the truck and in the back door of Casa Bonita, one of several dozen electronic games are being set up in the restaurant's arcade.
There is lots of work left to do. Casa Bonita's been gone for three years.
The restaurant that took its place never re-opened after the ice storm. So, the building's been empty for six months. That means there is a lot of reconnecting and cleaning up to get done.
"You make the little balls disappear one at a time," said magician Chris Capstone.
Chris Capstone performed his magic show in the theater for more than seven years. Now, he's back and very excited.
Curious George will ride again, too. The company that makes the little unicycle riding Georges went out of business, but the Casa Bonita owners found one on the Internet.
The waterfall is back on. The treasure chest in the treasure room has been refurbished, so be sure to stop there on your way out.
Of course, you will also be able to dine in the cave when Casa Bonita re-opens.
They've hired more than 200 people to run the place, many of them, like Tianna worked at Casa Bonita before.
They seem to working very hard to recreate all the Casa Bonita traditions, and childhood memories many of us share, like raising the little flag to say more sopapillas por favor.
There are still some inspections that must be completed, but the restaurant hopes to be open by the end of the month.
