ENID, Okla. (AP) -- A primary contractor at Vance Air Force Base anticipates laying off more civilian employees in the coming months.
A spokeswoman for CSC Applied Technologies said Friday that the company is advancing the date of the next round of layoffs, but Caroline Longanecker didn't say how many employees would be affected.
Last month, the corporation announced it was letting 30 workers at Vance go. The company employs about 900 people at the base.
Jerry McCune is president of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers District Lodge 171. McCune said in June that another round of layoffs affecting 40 employees was anticipated by October 1st.
McCune said Friday the layoff numbers hadn't been finalized, but apparently the cuts are going to happen by August 4th instead of October.
CSC officials say the layoffs were related to a decline in flight hours at Vance, but McCune blames the corporate office.
