Tulsa is getting what could be a multi-million dollar boost to the economy. Starting next year, Tulsa will host the Breeder's Invitational. On Thursday, the convention and visitors bureau announced the new, three-year deal at Expo Square.
The Invitational is a high-dollar sporting event for the best of the best. In the past six years, the invitational has paid out more than eight-million dollars in prize money.
Professionals compete in a variety of events, including herding cattle.
"This is the true cow pony business. This, the cow horse, this is the business of the cow horse and the cowboy," said Suzann Stewart of the Tulsa Metro Chamber.
Tulsa beat out Houston to the host the invitational.
