The dream to become the next big thing in rock 'n roll starts young.  Every good band needs guitars, drums and a singer.  The News On 6's Rick Wells reports some would-be rock 'n rollers are learning their stuff at a summer camp in Muskogee.

Tuesday was day two of a weeklong rock ‘n roll camp at John Michael's Music and Sound in Muskogee.  Young musicians are learning to put the pieces of a band together.

"Everybody thinks they can be a rock star," said Raegan Medeiros.

So, what does that feel like and how do you put those pieces together?

"The two drummers in this week have never played to a song prior to this week," said Dixie Conner.

Dixie Conner plays drums in two bands and teaches at the camp.  She's working with the drummers and the vocalists.

The campers have divided themselves into two bands, made up of old friends and new ones.

"Yeah, people we know and people we don't know, it's been really fun," said Jessica Pantlik.

They named their bands and during the week will learn a cover song, write an original piece and perform them both at the end of the week.

James Justice who's in Violence to Vegas, a fairly successful regional band, is working with the guitarists.  Once they get the songs down, they'll start developing style.

Some already have begun to work on autographs.

There is one week of Rock ‘n Roll Camp still open this summer.  If you'd like more information about what's on tap and how to enroll you can call the camp at 918-683-9290.
