Green Country struggles to stay afloat after one of the wettest years in history.  Wednesday morning's downpour flooded one apartment complex with half-a-foot of rain water.  The News On 6's Jeffrey Smith reports dozens of residents from the South Haven Manor Apartments in Tulsa are stuck in a motel this weekend.

They've got no other choice.  Their walls are moldy.  The stench is awful.  And, their clothes are soaked.

Walking through her apartment, Tonya Baugh says everything's soaked.  Wednesday's downpour flooded a creek near the South Haven Manor Apartments in Tulsa.

"It come from that way and it flooded the whole house. I had anywhere from two-to-four inches of water in my house," said Tonya Baugh.

The usually quiet creek became a raging wall of water.

"It flooded between 13 and 15 units, with about six or seven inches of water in them," said Red Cross volunteer Sam Knoten.

The creek was quiet again on Thursday, but it was still blocked up. The rains came so quickly Wednesday that instead of being able to drain underneath the street to the other side, the rain water just poured over the street and came crashing toward all the homes.

"When I opened the door, it all came pouring in the door and just poured through the house.  Got everything soaked," said Anita Mallard.

Anita Mallard had knee-deep water in her home.

"It's got grass all in there, and it just stinks.  Stinks like pond water," said Anita Mallard.

The damage is so bad; repair crews are tearing out the walls and replacing some of the floor boards.  But, there's help on the way.  Red Cross volunteers are giving the displaced residents four free nights at a local motel.

"Everything's in bags right now, and it's all starting to stink," said Anita Mallard.

Mallard says the Red Cross assistance is a big help, as she picks up the pieces and waits for everything to dry out.

The Red Cross also handed out free meal vouchers for the displaced residents.  A lot of South Haven residents say they've never seen the creek rise so fast.
