They're usually rivals, but athletes from Jenks and Union are coming together to help save lives this summer. On Friday, they helped kick off the "Save a Life Summer" campaign with the American Red Cross.

The two schools set a goal to collect 1,000 units of blood before the kickoff to their big game on the gridiron in September.

"These schools compete on so many levels, but when we went to them and said can you help our community, they were more than willing to work together, to partner. They said this is too important for the community," said Jan Hale of the American Red Cross.

Everyone who donates blood gets a T-shirt and a chance to win dinner at Louie's and a limo ride to the Jenks-Union game with four reserved seats on each side.
