At Woodland Memorial Park in Sand Springs hundreds turned out to honor veterans for their sacrifice. One such soldier honored was Sgt. Billie Hall, a Sand Springs native who lost his life heroically in 1966 in Vietnam.
"He was a medic and displayed some amazing self-sacrifice and heroics in Vietnam, saving several people's lives. He continued to try and save folks even after a mortar round had severed his legs. He deserves the Medal of Honor and we are seeking to get it for him," said Janice Hall Billeu.
Billeu received a framed charter renaming the local American Legion Hall after the hero.
