Kicking off Friday, May 16, is "50 cent Fridays" on MTTA buses during this year's Ozone Alert season.
Sunoco is sponsoring the weekly event to encourage Tulsa residents to try Tulsa Transit to help reduce ozone emissions.
The Metropolitan Tulsa Transit Authority says every Friday, bus rides will cost only 50 cents.
This new program will replace the 50 cent bus rides on Ozone Alert days.
"We are extremely grateful for Sunoco's generous contribution and support of public transportation in Tulsa as well as their commitment to clean air," Tulsa Transit General Manager Bill Cartwright said.
Sunoco officials say they are committed to operating in a safe, environmentally-sound and reliable manner and to being a responsible corporate citizen within the Tulsa community and the state of Oklahoma.
Ozone Alert season runs from May to October.
The Ozone Alert program brings citizens, business, industry and government in the Tulsa area together to voluntarily reduce ozone-forming emissions on days when the area is vulnerable to high ozone levels.
