The latest round of severe storms put a new emergency system to the test in one Okmulgee County town. The city of Beggs installed a new reverse 911 call system on Monday, just in time for Wednesday night's storms.
"Within minutes we can set it up and it will go out to telephones, cell phones and email to alert the citizens of Beggs of a catastrophe or, such as that tornado last night," said Beggs Police Chief James Poulin.
Before the system was installed, the community had to rely on just warning sirens.
