A Tulsa County woman sentenced to life in prison for beating her husband to death could get out soon.

That is if Governor Brad Henry approves a recommendation from the state Pardon and Parole Board to set her free with time served.

Fifty-seven-year old Norma Lumpkin went to prison in 1981.  Advocates say that never should have happened.  They say she suffered from battered spouse syndrome which wasn't a defense back then.

A former prosecutor says Lumpkin and a neighbor planned the murder to get a $200,000 life insurance policy.
