In an age of come-as-you-are churches, Sean Whisenhunt of Central Baptist Church in Owasso has a new way to reach youth on their level.
"I was trying to find a way to just reach to people and tell them about God, and a couple of skateboarders came rolling down the street. God said, ‘that's who you're going to reach' and I said ‘alright,'" said Sean Whisenhunt of Central Baptist Church.
Now, hundreds show up with their skateboards each week to jump the ramps, hear the music and commune with their fellow skaters.
"Sk8 Church you actually get in depth in some conversations. Other churches you can't talk about stuff, but here you actually talk about real live stuff," said skater Anthony Castleberry.
"Our youngest are in fourth grade all the way up to seniors in high school. So, they have a lot of energy and the skateboarding really helps them really burn that off before we get to what the lesson is that night," said Whisenhunt.
