Woman Struck And Killed By SUV

Tulsa Police have released the name of the woman killed Wednesday evening in an auto-pedestrian accident near 71st and Riverside Drive. 

Police say the victim is identified as 40-year-old Mary Ann Hewitt. 

The driver of a SUV told police officers, he knew he hit something, but didn't know what it was.  He stopped to check and found the woman lying in the road. 

The driver called 911 for help, but Hewitt died at a Tulsa hospital. 

Tulsa Police say about an hour before Hewitt was hit, she had been involved in a traffic accident.  The Hewitt's car had been towed and Tulsa Police believe she may have been going to call for a ride when she walked out into the road.
