An unsolved murder is the focus of a local filmmaker's latest work. Tommy Wallace says a chance meeting with the victim's mother led him to do the project for free as a way to help catch a killer. News On 6 crime reporter Lori Fullbright reports the nine-minute film is called, "Who murdered Brittany Phillips."

Brittany Phillips was a college student living in a South Tulsa apartment, who had no drug issues, no boy troubles, and no enemies. Yet, someone raped and strangled her inside her apartment in October of 2004. It's a crime that remains unsolved.

Brittany's mother has traveled the nation in her car wrapped with Brittany's story, in hopes of getting national attention to the case. She has spent hours handing out flyers.

Local filmmaker Tommy Wallace met Maggie while she was making copies of the flyers. He heard her story, wanted to help and believed a video would be a more powerful tool, plus he had personal reasons.

"About 10 years ago, I had an uncle murdered on Christmas day in a robbery. They did catch the assailants, but he was shot and killed on Christmas day so I know what's it's like. There's never closure, even if the assailant is caught, when it's in your family," said Tommy Wallace, Tulsa Filmmaker.

The short film covers three different scenarios for how Brittany could have been killed. Either she opened her door to someone who forced his way in, or someone followed her inside, or it was a person she had encountered casually through work or school.

Wallace used friends as actors and hopes posting the video on MySpace and You Tube, will accomplish two things.

"It'll help keep Brittany's memory alive and the hunt for who did it," said Wallace.

Brittany's mother is all for whatever helps catch her daughter's killer.

Brittany's mother begins her second cross-country trip next week and will be handing out copies of the DVD to media outlets and police departments.
