A Tulsa County community is rallying around a championship winning high school coach.
Nearly 200 people packed the Sperry school board meeting Monday night. Officially, the school board is discussing the jobs of more than 90 teachers and support staff. But dozens of students and parents are convinced some coaches will be fired or stripped of their coaching duties.
Many students and parents showed up to show support.
"We have sent emails, bulletins on My Space, emails to friends calling everybody. People are going out in different cities for college which are here tonight to try and support the coaches that mean so much to all of us," said Sperry student Stephanie Dewane.
"I don't think the coaches jobs were ever called into question. I think it was a rumor and I think that a lot of people have taken it and it has gone like wildfire," said Sperry resident and parent Deanna Oakley.
The school board met in executive session Monday night, but no coaches lost their jobs.
