Edith Jones Celebrates Her 103rd Birthday

A Green Country woman born before statehood is celebrating her 103rd birthday.  Edith Jones was born 103 years ago on February 22nd.  She grew up in a great big town named Cartlesville, Oklahoma.  Edith remembers a post office and a school that went to the 9th grade.

Edith says she's doing okay for being 103.  She's just a little shaky on her feet sometimes.

"Oh, you tell me. I don't know.  It was the Lord I guess.  I can't think of anything else that would keep me alive that long," said 103-year-old Edith Jones.

"She is outside almost every day sweeping her porch or blowing the leaves off. You always see her out during the summer," said Edith's neighbor, Linda Newport.

Edith's friends are having a birthday party for her on Friday.
