Okies Look To Be The Next American Idol

It is Hollywood Week on the popular show American Idol.  That means the chosen contestants begin the head to head competition.  There are 164 guys and gals making the trip.  Six of them are from Oklahoma and two of them have connections to The News On 6's summer talent contest, Gimme the Mike!

The first one tied to Gimme The Mike is Colton Swon of Muskogee.  He and his older brother, Zach, both made the cut last year.  Zach made it to the finals and Colton was on his way as a wildcard contestant, but had to pull out once he was chosen for American Idol.

The second connection is Krista Branch from Bixby.  Krista was actually an alternate for our show, but she can certainly sing.

Also competing from Oklahoma is Kyle Ensley of Stillwater.  Tulsans David Cook and Alaina Whitaker are also vying for American Idol.
