The hit reality show "America's Next Top Model" premiers later this month on the CW 12/19. This time one of the contestants is from Bartlesville. Her name is Amy Jenkins and it seems the whole world is going to get a taste of a unique woman Bartlesville should be very proud of.
Amy Jenkins is a tall, sexy brunette who goes by the name Amis.
"Amis is a nickname that her dad used to call her all the time when she was little," said Amy's mother M'Liss Jenkins.
The bombshell grew up in Bartlesville as an energetic but quirky girl with a lot to offer the world. Her parents hope you'll be impressed not only by her beauty, but her brains as well.
"Even when she was growing up she was so precocious you know, it was like having a little 5-year-old that was an adult," said Amy's father Carl Jenkins.
As a teenager growing up in Bartlesville, Amy's parents say it was tough. Amy has always danced to the beat of her own drum.
"You know she's been criticized all her life, she's been sort of ostracized often by her peer groups. It was like she was born in a different country and transplanted to Oklahoma," said M'Liss Jenkins.
Amy's friend Alexa Kirschman sees that as her best attribute. She hopes this reality show will launch Amy into a reality more fitting of her personality.
"She doesn't really fit in here and so I think this is going to help her get out of Bartlesville and do something amazing that she's meant to do," said Kirschman.
And everyone who really knows Amy says she's not competitive. They believe her happy-go-lucky attitude will come across on the show.
"I often wonder if part of her place on the show is comic relief, you know I don't know, because she's so funny," said M'Liss Jenkins.
But one thing they know for sure, Amis will represent herself, her family and the rest of Oklahoma with her own unique style.
"So its kind of cool that the rest of the world it seems is going to see this girl... because I think everyone could use a little bit of Amy Jenkins spirit, you know," said Kirschman.
Next Wednesday, The News On 6 will talk to someone in Amy's life who thinks she will be competitive. The News On 6 will also talk with her parents about the risks of being on reality TV and hear from the model herself.
