Tulsa police have a suspect in custody, accused of shooting a 16-year-old boy at the AMC Theatre near 41st and Yale on Saturday night. Investigators say the shooting happened in the parking lot. Police tell The News On 6 a parent dropped a group of teenagers off at the movies, thinking the kids would go inside, but instead, they gathered in the parking lot.
That's when, police say, someone fired a shot into the crowd that landed in the back of a teenager.
"We've dealt with these situations at the skating centers and different places before where parents think it's safe to drop their kids off and think it's safe to come pick them up at, you know, midnight on a Friday or Saturday night. And, that's when we run into problems when kids have too much time," said Tulsa Police Captain Rick Helberg.
Police say the victim's wound is non-life threatening; however, he is not cooperating with detectives at this time.
