A former Haskell mayor was scheduled to stand trial Monday on a first degree manslaughter charge.  The trial has been delayed until Wednesday, because the judge hearing the case was sick.  Charley Smith is accused of causing an October 4, 2006 traffic accident that killed Coweta Chiropractor Dr. Shawn Lee.

Smith was arrested at the accident scene on suspicion of drunk driving.  Smith was later released to get medical treatment.

The accident happened on state Highway 72 south of Coweta.

At Wednesday's court hearing, Smith is expected to enter a blind plea, which could mean no sentencing recommendation.
