As the weather gets colder, Catholic Charities is helping keep families warm. The Giles’ Coats for Kids distribution center opened its doors across the street from the Bama Pie Company on Thursday. Anyone needing a coat can stop by the location at 2648 East 11th Street. Those interested need to bring identification for each person in your household who needs a coat.
Of course, the organization is always in need of more coats and it's easy to help out.
"They would take it to their nearest Yale Cleaners and inform them it is a coat they're donating for the coats for kids drive and Yale Cleaners will take care of it from there,†said Susan Harris, Catholic Charities case worker. “It's that simple, they just gotta take it to a Yale Cleaners.â€
Catholic Charities is also looking for volunteers to work in the Coat Closet. You can find out more by calling Catholic Charities at 585-8167. The Coat Closet is open on Tuesdays and Thursday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon.
