As the weather gets colder, Catholic Charities is helping keep families warm. The Gilesâ€™ Coats for Kids distribution center opened its doors across the street from the Bama Pie Company on Thursday. Anyone needing a coat can stop by the location at 2648 East 11th Street. Those interested need to bring identification for each person in your household who needs a coat.

Of course, the organization is always in need of more coats and it's easy to help out.

"They would take it to their nearest Yale Cleaners and inform them it is a coat they're donating for the coats for kids drive and Yale Cleaners will take care of it from there,â€ said Susan Harris, Catholic Charities case worker. â€œIt's that simple, they just gotta take it to a Yale Cleaners.â€

Catholic Charities is also looking for volunteers to work in the Coat Closet. You can find out more by calling Catholic Charities at 585-8167. The Coat Closet is open on Tuesdays and Thursday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon.
