The congregation of Mt. Zion Baptist Church said good-bye to their longtime pastor on Sunday. George C. McCutchen has been senior pastor at the church for 50 years. Members of the church, located at 419 N. Elgin, organized a weekend full of activities to wish their pastor farewell. Sunday he preached his final sermon from the pulpit as the church's senior pastor.

Pastor McCutchen says that it's time to retire and he's looking forward to some much needed leisure time.

"I tell people all the time; first of all I'm going fishing. Of course, I'll travel and preach when I'm asked, but I plan on doing some relaxing,â€ said Senior Pastor George C. McCutchen.

McCutchen says he'll miss the early mornings in his office and always being available to the church members.
