Tulsa Police have arrested the man accused of molesting a six-year-old girl. The attack happened Tuesday inside a bathroom at Wright Elementary. News On 6 anchor Latoya Silmon reports police say the girl’s description of the alleged attacker and the school’s check-in policy for guests pointed to one suspect.
That man was taken into custody on Friday.
“We're just glad he's off the streets. Now we need to focus our attention on the victim,†said Tulsa Police Officer Jason Willingham.
The victim is just 6 years old. Tulsa police say she was using the restroom at Wright Elementary on Tuesday when Joshua Dubois walked in the girl's stall and touched her inappropriately.
“He was not an intruder. They knew he was on campus. Shortly thereafter he committed the crime. The child screamed and the suspect ran out,†said Tulsa Police Officer Jason Willingham.
Police say before the attack, Dubois dropped his nephew off at Wright Elementary and went inside to see the boy's teacher. The school signed him in.
Tulsa Police credit that policy and the girl's quick thinking with the arrest.
“She was able to give a description matching the time this guy was on campus,†said Tulsa Police Officer Jason Willingham.
Joshua Dubois is facing a lewd molestation of a minor charge and a former speeding warrant. Tulsa Public Schools released a statement about the attack. It says the district has arranged counseling for the alleged victim, her family, and the suspect's nephew.
District officials say they’re also investigating all of the aspects of this unfortunate incident to determine whether current procedures were followed, and whether additional procedures are warranted.
