Prison Escapee Back In Custody

A prison escapee is now back behind bars. Michael J. Pruitt was taken into custody Friday afternoon. Tulsa Police say Pruitt walked away from a minimum-security correctional facility in southeast Oklahoma earlier this week. The 50-year-old was serving time at the Jim Hamilton Correctional Center for assault and battery with a deadly weapon.

Early Friday morning, police officers surrounded a midtown apartment complex near 14th and Trenton for several hours, after Pruitt made a phone call from one of the apartments. Authorities tried to make contact with Pruitt and eventually went inside one of the apartments. No one was in the apartment.
