A best-selling Tulsa novelist has been arrested again, this time at a Tulsa elementary school. Tulsa Police say 47-year-old William Bernhardt was arrested at Carnegie Elementary School Friday morning. Police say school officials called them after school personnel observed Bernhardt to be unsteady on his feet and exhibiting other signs of intoxication. School officials say Bernhardt was at the school for a parent-teacher conference.
This is the third time this year, William Bernhardt has been arrested on an intoxication complaint. Earlier this year, Bernhardt was given a six-month deferred sentence after pleading 'no contest' to driving under the influence and leaving the scene of an accident. Both charges stemmed from a March incident in Jenks.
In June, Bernhardt given a six-month suspended sentence after pleading 'no contest' to driving under the influence following his arrest in February in Tulsa.
