Two Tulsa police officers are on routine paid suspension after shooting and killing a man during a standoff late Monday evening. Tulsa Police homicide detectives are looking into the case, but say at this point, it appears to be a classic case of suicide by cop.
Tulsa Police officers found Timothy Casey armed with a .50 caliber rifle inside his apartment at 3038 South 101st East Avenue near 31st and Mingo after they were called to a vandalism report at a nearby bar.
Tulsa Police say a woman told officers her ex-husband poured gas on her car and tried to set it on fire. Police officers found the suspect at the Willowbend Apartments and made contact with him but he would not surrender.
Tulsa Police evacuated several apartments, and temporarily shut down a nearby QuikTrip and Wendy's Restaurant during the standoff.
After three hours, Tulsa Police say Timothy Casey walked onto the second story balcony and pointed a gun at police officers. Police officers fired, killing Casey.
Tulsa Police are not saying whether the man fired any shots, or the exact number of shots officers fired.
News On 6 crime reporter Lori Fullbright will have more on Timothy Casey in her report at the News On 6 at 6 pm.
