TAMPA, Fla. (AP) -- Thomas Vanek scored late in overtime as the Buffalo Sabres rallied for a 4-3 victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Vanek tried to pass the puck from along the right-wing boards to teammate Nathan Paetsch in the slot. The puck deflected off a Tampa Bay defender into the net with 40.5 seconds left.

Paetsch ended a personal 22-game goal-scoring drought with a goal. Maxim Afinogenov and Paul Gaustad had the other Buffalo goals.
