Woman Killed In Crash

EL RENO, Okla. (AP) -- A one-car crash in Canadian County has taken the life of a 25-year-old woman. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says Julie Smith of Yukon was killed
in the Saturday morning crash on Interstate 40. The collision occurred at 2:43 a.m.

Troopers say the victim's vehicle was westbound on I-40 when it ran off the roadway. Smith overcorrected and struck a light pole before her car came to rest. She was pinned in the wreckage for two hours before being freed
by the El Reno Fire Department.

A 21-year-old passenger in the vehicle was admitted to an El Reno hospital in good condition with leg and internal injuries.

The patrol says both Smith and her passenger were wearing seat belts.
