Homicide detectives are working to solve Tulsa’s latest homicide. Angela Bassett and Angela Hargrove were found dead along the side of the road on Tuesday. Angela Bassett and Angela Hargrove both had three children. The News On 6 talked to one of the victim's family on Wednesday. News On 6 anchor Latoya Silmon reports Bassett's oldest is only 11, but he wanted to talk about his mom and let everyone know just how wonderful she was to him and his two brothers.
Snap shots frozen in time, a time when Angela Bassett was full of life. Just the way her oldest son wants to remember her.
“Her smiling at me and her face,†said Angela Bassett’s 11-year-old son Zac Finning.
Death can be hard for anyone to understand, especially an 11-year-old.
“I felt sad. I didn't know what to think. I never thought she would go away so early,†Finning said.
Angela was only 29. A man found her and another woman's body on the side of a rural road Tuesday. Police say someone killed them then dumped their bodies.
“Nobody young, older, or otherwise should end up having to being dumped out like Angela was and her friend,†said Bassett’s uncle Mike Underwood.
Basset's uncle says as police search for answers, family members are looking for ways to cope.
“It's tough to see the family go through that,†Underwood said.
Mike Underwood says they've been through so much already.
“We've had a lot of tragedy in the last couple of years. Her mom passed away about a year ago, her grandpa passed a year ago, and she had an uncle pass away about a year ago,†said Underwood.
It's enough to make a grown man cry, especially because he says Angela was such a good person. No one knows that better than Zac.
“She was a nice mom and she loved us,†Bassett’s son Zac Finning said.
The News On 6 tried to talk with Angela Hargrove's family, but they say it's too hard to talk about her right now.
Like Bassett, Hargrove had three children. The family has set up a memorial fund for them; you can make donations to the Angela Hargrove Memorial Fund at any BOK location.
Meanwhile, Tulsa police are still searching for the person who killed Bassett and Hargrove. If you know anything about what happened to them police urge you to call Crimestoppers at 596-COPS. Callers can remain anonymous and the tip could earn a cash reward.
