By the beginning of the 2009 season, the Tulsa Talons will have a new home. The arena football team announced Monday afternoon that it will move into the BOK Center once it is completed. The News On 6’s Chris Wright reports the Talons will remain in their current home at the Tulsa Convention Center for the 2008 season.
After that, they have struck a four-year deal that will make them the anchor of the new arena once it opens. Talons owner Henry Primeaux announced the planned move at a press conference Monday afternoon. He said it has not been an easy process, but he’s glad the team was able to get the deal done. Primeaux touted the state of the art features and facilities the BOK Center will have once it’s completed.
Those features include a $3 million dollar scoreboard system, plush locker rooms, and ample office space for the coaches.
Tulsa Mayor Kathy Taylor was also on hand to praise the move, saying it is important for the Tulsa Talons to remain downtown.
The team feels the new arena will be a big draw.
"By the time we move into the arena, we're going to have national television game of the week. We're really excited and I think we can put 12-13,000 people in there,†said Henry Primeaux, Talons owner.
