PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- Jeff Carter and Sami Kapanen scored 34 seconds apart in the second period in leading the Philadelphia Flyers past the winless Atlanta Thrashers 4-0.
The win moves the Flyers into sole possession of first place in the Atlantic Division.
Martin Biron made 31 saves in his first shutout since the Flyers acquired him from Buffalo in February. Biron had his 19th NHL shutout and his first since April of 2006.
Mike Richards and Randy Jones also scored for the 4-and-1 Flyers. They didn't win their fourth game last season until November 15th.
