SAN DIEGO (AP) -- The Chargers have acquired wide receiver Chris Chambers from the Miami Dolphins for a 2008 second-round draft pick.

San Diego has been without the services its number-one receiver since Eric Parker broke the big toe on his right foot during June's minicamp.

Chris Chambers has 31 receptions for 415 yards and no touchdowns this year. He was a second-round choice by Miami in 2001 and enjoyed his best season in 2005, when he caught 82 balls for 1,118 yards and 11 scores.

Wide receiver Chris Chambers has some extra time to get acquainted with the Chargers' offense. San Diego has a bye this week.

The trade suggests the Dolphins are looking to the future after opening 0-and-6 under first-year coach Cam Cameron. It matches the worst start in franchise history.
