A Tulsa County jury recommends four years in prison for a former security guard who fatally shot a man visiting an apartment complex nearly four years ago.

Thirty-two-year-old Donald Ray Cowan was convicted of first-degree manslaughter in the death of 39-year-old Ronald Henderson.

Prosecutors say Cowan stopped Henderson for driving the wrong way in an apartment complex in January 2004. Cowan said he thought Henderson was reaching for a gun, so he fired on Henderson.

Henderson did not have a gun.

Cowan will be formally sentenced November 15.
