SANTA CLARITA, Calif. (AP) -- One California firefighter says "it looked like a bomb went off."
At one point flames shot out of a tunnel on a rain-slicked Southern California freeway and spiraled high into the sky after a pile-up involving at least 15 trucks.
The charred skeletons of at least a half-dozen big-rig trucks could been seen peeking out of the tunnel's south end. At least one big rig was carrying produce.
Officials say 20 people were evacuated from the fiery tunnel on foot, including the 10 people who were injured.
Firefighters have been unable to go into the tunnel to confirm how many vehicles had crashed.
California authorities say it could be some time before the key route connecting Los Angeles to San Francisco and Los Angeles to its northern suburbs is reopened.
