DAVIS, Okla. (AP) -- The death of a 24-year-old student from India whose body was recovered from a pool at Turner Falls has been ruled an accidental drowning, authorities said Tuesday. The man, whose identity wasn't immediately released, was among a group of 17 students from Oklahoma City University who stopped at the recreational area Monday en route to Dallas, Davis Police Chief Dan Cooper said.
Five of the students went into the water to swim about 3 p.m. The man who drowned went underwater and never resurfaced, Cooper said.
An Oklahoma Highway Patrol dive team recovered the man's body at 4:10 p.m. in about 10 feet of water, about 30 feet from the shoreline, Cooper said.
Officials have contacted the Indian consulate in Houston in attempt to notify the man's family, Cooper said.
