The grandstands are being put up in downtown Oklahoma City. It's all in preparation for the Oklahoma Centennial Parade this weekend. The huge event is sort of the icing on the birthday cake, ending Oklahoma's year long celebration of its first 100 years of statehood.
Dozens of floats, bands and huge balloons will showcase our state's unique history and its extraordinary future.
Organizers expect the huge parade to be a hit with people of all ages.
"I think they'll be joyous and happy with what they've seen, and be proud of what this 100th birthday is bringing to them," Lee Allan Smith with Oklahoma Events said.
James Garner and Miss America, Lauren Nelson, will serve as honorary parade marshals. The parade is Sunday, October 14 at 2 p.m. it will be broadcast live, statewide, on OETA.
