Hundreds of beautiful artifacts have been found along the Arkansas River, and some Green Country archaeologists believe we're only scratching the surface. Some of the finds are now on display at the Sand Springs museum.

The exhibit includes a woolly mammoth jaw, arrowheads and pottery.

Archaeologists say there are still more treasures to be found. But, they say river development could keep those things buried forever.

“It's from this history that we understand our future. And so, there's children today he was encouraging them to really look because they may never have the opportunity to find this for themselves,” said Sand Springs Museum director Ruth Ellen Henry.

Saturday is your last chance to see the prehistoric finds in Sand Springs. There is a showing at the Sand Springs Community Center, located at 9 E. Broadway Street, from 9 am- 5pm.

The vote on river development is set for October 9. For complete coverage of the River Vote, click here.
