Anti Lethal Injection Argument Irks Murder Victim's Mom

Oklahoma Attorney General Drew Edmondson has placed a hold on executions in the state until the U.S. Supreme Court decides the constitutionality of lethal injection. The Supreme Court is looking at the issue in a case that may set a national standard for executions.

The high court will decide a Kentucky case which claims lethal injection is cruel and unusual punishment.

Carol Sanders in Tulsa disagrees. Her daughter Laura Lee Sanders and a friend of her daughter, Michael Houghton were burned alive in the trunk of a car. One of the men convicted in the case was executed by lethal injection a few years ago.

"They have certainly had more than their share of trials and appeals, endless appeals, so we don't give lethal injection to them, just flippantly," says Carol Sanders.

Attorney General Drew Edmonson says it is prudent to postpone any executions in Oklahoma until the Supreme Court decides the issue, which is expected to happen by the spring of next year.
