NATIONAL WEATHER SUMMARY:

Across the East, showers and thunderstorms developed across the Southeast and Deep South throughout the day. Rainfall amounts over half an inch were reported. 2 inches of rain fell in Charleston, South Carolina. A cold front swept across the Great Lakes and Ohio Valley throughout the day. Skies were cloudy in those regions. Partly cloudy skies were observed over the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast.

In the central region, showers and thunderstorms pushed over the Ozarks early in the day, then dissipated. Flooding occurred in western Arkansas. Across the rest of the central region, skies were sunny and dry over the Midwest, Great Plains, and western Great Lakes. Breezy conditions were reported over the Dakotas and central Plains as winds gusted to over 40 miles-per-hour.

Over the West, widely scattered showers developed over the northern Rockies and Pacific Northwest. Snow fell at higher elevations. Rainfall was locally heavy near the coast. Another area of showers moved over the southern Desert Southwest. Rainfall was light. Skies were clear and dry across the central and southern Rockies, Great Basin, and California.

FRONTS ACROSS THE NATION

A stationary front is located in Ohio, Indiana, southern Illinois, southern Missouri, Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Texas.

A cold front is moving through North Dakota, Wyoming, Idaho, and Nevada.

NATIONAL WEATHER FORECAST

In the East tonight, tropical moisture and a series of upper-level disturbances will generate scattered showers and thunderstorms across the Southeast. Elsewhere, high humidity and light winds will lead to areas of fog developing overnight across the Northeast. The remainder of the East will experience fair weather conditions overnight. Lows will be in the 50's and 60's across the Northeast, with 40's and 50's prevailing across the Great Lakes Region. The Ohio Valley and Appalachians will experience lows in the 50's and 60's. Across the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast, lows will be in the 60's and 70's.

In the Central United States, a weak disturbance will generate isolated showers and thunderstorms tonight in southwestern Texas. Elsewhere, scattered showers and storms will occur in southern Louisiana in association with a tropical disturbance. Otherwise, fair conditions can be expected over the remainder of the Central United States. Lows will be in the 40's and 50's across the Northern Plains and Upper Midwest, with 50's and 60's expected over the Central Plains and Middle Mississippi Valley. In the Southern Plains, lows will range from the mid 60's to mid 70's.

Tonight in the West, a low pressure trough will produce rain and mountain snow showers over Washington, Oregon, Idaho, western Montana, and western Wyoming. Snow accumulations of one to four inches will be possible across the higher elevations. Meanwhile, onshore flow will lead to areas of fog developing overnight along the West Coast. Lows will range from the upper 20's to low 40's over the northern Rockies and Pacific Northwest, while the central and southern Rockies, as well as the Intermountain West, can expect lows ranging from the mid 30's to mid 50's. California will generally experience lows ranging from the mid 40's to mid 60's. In the Desert Southwest, lows will be in the 60's and 70's.
