LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) _ Nebraska linebacker Steve Octavien hopes the Memorial Stadium crowd is supportive when the Cornhuskers open Big 12 play Saturday against Iowa State.

Octavien apologized this week for criticizing fans who booed during last week's 41-40 win over Ball State.

Coach Bill Callahan says he and his coaching staff don't have time to have a pity party if things aren't going well.

The 25th-ranked Cornhuskers are coming off a 41-40 win over 23-point underdog Ball State. They narrowly avoided what would have been arguably the most embarrassing home loss in program history.

The Cyclones (1-3) haven't won in Lincoln since 1977. They come into the Big 12 opener with an offense that is trying to establish a rhythm under first-year coach Gene Chizik.
