OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ A national literary organization is giving 50,000 books to Oklahoma children. The preschool level books are being donated by First Book after Oklahoma won the group's online voting contest.

First Book is a nonprofit literacy organization in Washington D.C. and provides books to low-income children.

The books are being distributed to 77 library systems, literacy councils, day cares, Head Starts, elementary schools, family service agencies and clinics in 43 communities statewide.

First Book vice president Lynda Lancaster says the organization also plans to bring 300,000 more children's books to the state.
