OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ The state Pardon and Parole Board is recommending parole for 142 inmates including a woman sentenced to life in prison for the death of her 14-month-old daughter. Karen Drew was convicted of first-degree murder in her daughter's death in 1985. Drew claimed the child fell and a parole report says Drew still denies wrongdoing but has no prior criminal history and is little threat to society if released.
She has completed college courses in prison and plans to work as an electrician if released.
In all the board approved 142 parole requests from prisoners while denying 391 others.
Governor Brad Henry will make the final decision on whether the approved parole requests are granted.
