OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ U.S. Rep. Tom Tancredo brought his presidential campaign to Oklahoma. Tancredo, a Republican congressman from Colorado, thanked about 20 supporters on Saturday for backing Oklahoma's anti-immigration bill passed earlier this year.
Tancredo's a leading advocate of strong action against illegal immigration. He says Oklahoma's anti-immigration law, which takes effect Nov. 1, is one of the strongest in the country.
Tancredo says no state has done more on the illegal immigration issue.
Legislation approved earlier this year would crack down on the estimated 75,000 illegal immigrants in the state. It sets criminal penalties for knowingly and willingly harboring illegal immigrants and bars undocumented residents from jobs and public benefits.
