OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ State Senator Andrew Rice is planning news conferences in Tulsa and Oklahoma City next Wednesday to announce he's running for the U.S. Senate. Rice is a Democrat. The seat is currently held by Republican U.S. Senator Jim Inhofe who has said he's running for re-election.

Inhofe was elected in 1994 to fill the unexpired term of David Boren when Boren resigned to become president of the University of Oklahoma.

Inhofe was re-elected in 1996 and 2002.
