NORMAN, Okla. (AP) _ A freshman Oklahoma football player was arrested early Friday morning for allegedly trying to steal gasoline and is now suspended from the team.
Norman police say Ryan Broyles of Norman was arrested at 12:10 a.m. Friday when an officer saw him at a closed convenience store. Captain Leonard Judy says Broyles had a key and codes to activate the pump and the key was in the pump.
Broyles was released on $200 cash bond three-and-a-half hours after his arrest.
Broyles was listed as second-team receiver on the OU depth chart for tomorrow's season opener against North Texas but OU spokesman Kenny Mossman says he's now suspended indefinitely.
Broyles was all-state at Norman High School last season and originally committed to Oklahoma State but changed his mind during the week leading up to signing day.
