WELCH, Okla. (AP) -- The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says a standoff near Welch with a man who shot at officers has ended with the man now in custody. The man was arrested shortly after 1:30 a.m. Thursday after holding law enforcement at bay for about 8 1/2 hours.
The man's name and details of how officers arrested him were not immediately released.
OHP troopers say the incident began just after 5 p.m. Wednesday when Craig County authorities called for assistance because a man was holding a woman hostage.
The OHP says as hostage negotiators were on their way to the home the woman managed to escape and the man then barricaded himself inside the house.
Troopers say about 9 p.m. the man fired several shots in the general direction of the officers at the scene but no injuries are reported.
